ABOUT THE GLOBAL COMMUNICATION CERTIFICATION COUNCIL
The Global Communication Certification Council™(GCCC) comprises a strong slate of officers representing the communication industry worldwide and serves as an autonomous governing body for the Global Communication Certification Program.
The Council’s purpose is to create and maintain an internationally recognized standard of communication excellence based on a global understanding of key principles and job competencies worldwide.
The Council aims to serve the communication profession by encouraging and executing a process of credentialing of communicators who achieve a global standard at different points of their career path.

Sharon Hunter, SCMP - Chair
Sharon is a strategic communication consultant, facilitator, and certified coach with over 30 yrs experience in corporate communications, marketing, strategic planning and training. She's an award-winning IABC leader and served six years on IABC’s International Executive Board – including Global Chair in 2018. During her tenure, she participated in the creation of the Global Communication Certification Council and the launch of its new certification programs – earning her SCMP designation in 2017. She advocates for strategic communicators to drive alignment and impact in their organizations – a purpose she believes is empowered by the confidence and credibility certification can provide.

Ginger D. Homan, ABC, SCMP, IABC Fellow - Vice Chair
Ginger’s expertise is transformation. She has worked with corporations and foundations to bring out the best in their people and their brands, as well as professional communicators on how to build their influence. Now, she is exploring how to live a life of purpose and focus work so it matters – allowing people to achieve the impact they desire on the world. A seasoned speaker, coach, and workshop facilitator, Ginger has been recognized with multiple awards for communication excellence and leadership. She is a former IABC International Chair and the recipient of three IABC International Chair’s Awards for leadership.

Mark Evans, SCMP - Past Chair
Mark Evans is owner of On The Point Communications, which specializes in public relations, crisis communication, social media and corporate communications. He is a 25-year veteran of the public relations/strategic communications industry and advises clients on messaging, issues management, marketing/communications program development and crisis communication. He previously taught media writing at Texas A&M University and currently teaches business communication at The University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University. He holds a master's degree in science/technology communication and bachelor's degrees in biology and journalism. Mark is current past chair of the International Association of Business Communication’s Southern Region.

Paula Bernardino, SCMP
Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) with 20 years of experience, Paula has an expertise in strategic corporate communications and public relations acquired while working for large global corporations and not-for-profit organizations. Specializing in Corporate Responsibility since 2014, she won the “Best Paper – Practitioner” award at 2020 CCI Milan Conference on Corporate Communication on September 17, 2020 for her study “Engaging Employees through Corporate Social Responsibility Programs” conducted in July 2020. Paula is a course lecturer at McGill University in the Public Relations program and an instructor at the University of Ottawa's Professional Development Institute.

Bonnie Caver
Bonnie Caver is the President and Founder of Reputation Lighthouse, a branding and reputation marketing firm. The consultancy focuses on leading companies around the globe to create, accelerate, and protect their brands, especially in times of disruption and transformation.
Bonnie is a former chair of the global board of directors for the IABC, and served on the board of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management . She launched the Global Alliance initiative #WorldPRCommsMonth, which celebrates and advocates for the profession in October. She also leads IABC's global shared interest group for Change Management.

Edward F Dixon, SCMP
Ed is a strategic communications consultant with 30-plus years of experience in corporate communications, marketing, public affairs and CSR in both corporate and agency roles. A former agency partner/regional leader and a chief marketing & communication officer, his focus is supporting some of the world’s top B2B and B2C brands develop globally relevant communication strategies that drive business impact while addressing stakeholder needs. He has extensive on-the-ground experience in the U.S., Europe, Asia and the Middle East and holds a master’s degree in public communication as well as executive certificates in Global CSR and nonprofit management. Currently based in Saudi Arabia, Ed was SCMP-certified in 2023.

Andre Oberholzer, SCMP
André Oberholzer is Group Head Corporate Affairs at Sappi Limited. With 21 years’ service, he has global responsibility for corporate and business communication including social impact, stakeholder, brand and reputation management. A past chair of the IABC Africa region he judges for PRISA Prism awards and Africa and global IABC Quill Awards. He is the first person from Africa to be certified SCMP. Prior to joining Sappi, he spent 14 years as a diplomat for South Africa. Sappi, headquartered in Johannesburg, is a US$5 billion global pulp and paper company with operations across South Africa, North America and Europe.
