ABOUT THE GLOBAL COMMUNICATION CERTIFICATION COUNCIL
The Global Communication Certification Council™(GCCC®) comprises a strong slate of officers representing the communication industry worldwide and serves as an autonomous governing body for the Global Communication Certification Program.
The Council’s purpose is to create and maintain an internationally recognized standard of communication excellence based on a global understanding of key principles and job competencies worldwide.
The Council aims to serve the communication profession by encouraging and executing a process of credentialing of communicators who achieve a global standard at different points of their career path.

Mark Evans, SCMP® - Chair
Mark Evans is owner of On The Point Communications, which specializes in public relations, crisis communication, social media and corporate communications. He is a 25-year veteran of the public relations/strategic communications industry and advises clients on messaging, issues management, marketing/communications program development and crisis communication. He previously taught media writing at Texas A&M University and currently teaches business communication at The University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University. He holds a master's degree in science/technology communication and bachelor's degrees in biology and journalism. Mark is current past chair of the International Association of Business Communication’s Southern Region.

Sia Papageorgiou FRSA, SCMP® - Past Chair
Sia Papageorgiou is a multi-award-winning strategic communication leader on a mission to elevate the value and visibility of communication professionals and help them become trusted, strategic, and in-demand advisors. She’s consulted to some of the world’s highest profile organisations and governments delivering creative communication strategies and programs that drive understanding, impact and performance. Sia is a certified strategic communication management professional, a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, and past president of the Victorian chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). She’s also a past board director at IABC Asia-Pacific. In 2021, IABC Asia-Pacific named her Communicator of the Year and in 2022 she was awarded the prestigious IABC Rae Hamlin Award in recognition of her exemplary service in advocating the Global Standard of the Communication Profession and evangelising the power and possibility or communication.

Michael Cabot
Michael has his spent career creating compelling narratives for some of the world’s most innovative and exciting brands: Apple, Nokia, Sony, Autodesk, Cisco, Palm, Reebok, and NetApp. More recently, he’s specialized in strategizing with C-level teams and founders to tell their stories, evangelize new products, engage employees, build thought leadership platforms and position their brands for growth. He previously sat on the IABC Silicon Valley board from 2013 – 2016, serving as Vice President of Professional Development & Community. During his tenure, he set up and ran a successful mentor-matching program for promising communications majors at SJSU, SCU, and Stanford.
Michael’s diverse experience has enabled him to successfully manage the full spectrum of communications activities. In addition, he has a unique global perspective, having built, managed and led global comms teams in multiple countries. He speaks fluent Spanish and French.

Virginia Chi, SCMP®
Virginia Chi, SCMP, has over 20 years of experience in communication spanning journalism, marketing communications, advertising and event management. She had also held senior marketing management positions in major corporations. Currently Communications Consultant with CE Excel, she had served the Jardine Matheson Group, PCCW, Hong Kong Tourism Board and South China Morning Post.
She is the Immediate Past President (2014-2020)/Vice President, Finance and Accreditation of IABC Hong Kong Chapter. Virginia is also a Founding and Fellow Member of HKPRPA, a professional public relations group in Hong Kong. She is an adjunct lecturer and holds a master's degree in Communication.

Nekolina Lau, SCMP (she/her)
Nekolina Lau is a wife, mother and strategic communication professional. For nearly 20 years, Nekolina has been honing her craft in communication across various industries, including banking, tech, retail, oil & gas, non-profit, government and academics. Over the past decade, she’s focused her career on internal, employee and executive communication. During this time, Nekolina played an integral role in developing communication and change management strategies that drive employee engagement. Currently, Nekolina brings her passion for communication to life as a director of communications for ATB Financial, leading a team of 12 communications professionals. In 2020, Nekolina was the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Gold Quill Best of the Best recipient for internal communication. The same year Nekolina and the communications team at ATB Financial were recognized as the Gold Quill Corporate Communication team of the year.
The continued advancement of the communications profession is important to Nekolina. As a mentor with IABC Calgary, a leader and coach at work and in the community, and a Gold Quill evaluator, she is committed to giving back and being a 'leg up' for other people. Nekolina is always happy to connect to share her knowledge and experience with others.

Gihan Hyde
Gihan A.M Hyde is the award-winning Founder and CEO of Communique a start-up specializing in Environmental, Social Impact and Governance (ESG) Communication. Her 22 years of experience is gained in eight sectors (Government, Construction, Retail, Financial Services, Oil & Gas, NGO, FMCG, and Professional Services) and across six countries. Some of the organizations she advised on ESG included WHO, HSBC, Barclays, M&S, BP and many more. Gihan’s background is in Employee Communications, Marketing, and Advertising . Her work positively impacted 200K employees, 150K customers and contributed to £300M investment deals.
